Melchisedec or Melchizedek High Priest
Melchisedec - 4442. Malkiy-Tsedeq, mal-kee-tseh'-dek; from H4428 and H6664; king of right; --Melchizedek.
(Heb 7:1 KJV) For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him; (Heb 7:2 KJV) To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace; (Heb 7:3 KJV) Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.
There are many opinions about Melchisedec King of Salem. Many take him as a literal man that held the office of the High Priest of God during the days of Abraham. Paul wanted the Hebrews to understand who Melchisedec was. Paul had many things to say about Melchisedec. Paul also stated that this knowledge would be hard to utter and hard to understand.
Paul knew that the Hebrews that he was writing unto had not the Revelation of Melchisedec. These Hebrew, as are most ministers of today, were dull in the understanding of God’s word. Paul knew that this was a spiritual priesthood, which would be hard to explain to the carnal.
(Heb 5:10 KJV) Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec. (Heb 5:11 KJV) Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing.
If we study the requirements of the Levitical Priesthood we find that genealogy is very important. Any man that did the service of a Levitical Priest had to meet stringent requirements. A priest had to be thirty years old and a Levite:
(Num 4:2 KJV) Take the sum of the sons of Kohath from among the sons of Levi, after their families, by the house of their fathers, (Num 4:3 KJV) From thirty years old and upward even until fifty years old, all that enter into the host, to do the work in the tabernacle of the congregation.
We read were Melchisedec had no records of linage. We read Melchisedec had no father or mother, and he had no beginning of life and no end of life.
Bible scholars state, as a whole, that he was the King of Jerusalem, which they say was Salem. According to what I can see the earthly city of Jerusalem did not exist at this time. The Word of God states that Abraham took Isaac to Moriah to sacrifice him unto God. The Dome of the Rock is where Mount Moriah is located. No earthly city was there at the time that Isaac was taken there to be sacrificed.
(Gen 22:2 KJV) And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of. (Gen 22:3 KJV) And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him. (Gen 22:4 KJV) Then on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off.
The earthly Jerusalem was the cause of God’s anger from the day it was built. Earthly Jerusalem has never been a city of peace unto God. No city has seen more war and hell than earthly Jerusalem.
(Jer 32:31 KJV) For this city hath been to me as a provocation of mine anger and of my fury from the day that they built it even unto this day; that I should remove it from before my face.
There are two Jerusalem’s one that is under bondage to Hagar and the heavenly Jerusalem, which is the mother of the church, or us, which is the true Israel of God.
(Gal 4:24 KJV) Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar. (Gal 4:25 KJV) For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children. (Gal 4:26 KJV) But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.
God showed himself unto many. We know Moses saw God along with seventy others.
(Exo 24:9 KJV) Then went up Moses, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel: (Exo 24:10 KJV) And they saw the God of Israel: and there was under his feet as it were a paved work of a sapphire stone, and as it were the body of heaven in his clearness.
Nebuchadnezzar saw the Lord:
(Dan 3:25 KJV) He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.
Moses was showed the creation by God himself. Moses would see the past in the next verse but not the future.
(Exo 33:22 KJV) And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by: (Exo 33:23 KJV) And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.
God did not moon Moses by showing him his rear-end. God showed Moses the deeds that he did before the days of Moses existed. Moses wrote Genesis and the record of the creation. We must understand the pattern and the ways of God.
There were times Moses saw God’s face or his present time, and future events.
(Exo 33:11 KJV) And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.
From the beginning there existed the order of the heavenly priesthood. The priesthood of Aaron was a type and shadow of heavenly things. Moses was told to make the Tabernacle in the Wilderness after the exact pattern of the heavenly order.
(Heb 8:5 KJV) Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern showed to thee in the mount.
In the Book of Revelation the heavenly Priesthood, the heavenly Tabernacle and its pattern are revealed unto the Son of God (THE BODY OF CHRIST OR CHURCH).
(Rev 15:5 KJV) And after that I looked, and, behold, the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened:
(Rev 21:3 KJV) And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
God showed his Priesthood and Kingship in the flesh many times before he enrobed himself in the flesh. Melchisedec was King of Salem, he was King of Righteousness, and Melchisedec was King of Peace. These attributes have always and always will be the attributes of the King God Almighty.
The Holy Spirit, God, Holy Ghost, or Word of God was enrobed in the flesh:
(Mat 1:23 KJV) Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
(Isa 9:6 KJV) For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Melchisedec appeared as the Lord and High Priest of New Jerusalem. Abraham knew of New Jerusalem and looked for this city that was made without hands. Abraham also saw the day and Priesthood of Jesus Christ, which God revealed unto him.
The prophets of old were filled with the Holy Ghost or the Word of God knowing and prophesying about the Kingship of Christ, Son-ship, and the gathering together of Israel through Jesus Messiah. They testified of his crucifixion and the glory that would follow the Lord Jesus.
(1 Pet 1:11 KJV) Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.
We know that the Lord appeared unto Abraham. Abraham was of faith and God talked and walked with Abraham. The Word of God came unto Abraham. Abraham believed the Word of God and this is why he is described as a man of faith.
We have the same pattern with Abraham as we do with all of the children of faith. If we are children of faith we believe the word of God when we hear it.
Abraham gave first fruits unto the Lord because the Priesthood of Jesus Christ is a priesthood of first fruits, which is of faith. It was God that took tithes of faith from Abraham. It was the Lord God, JESUS IN SPIRIT, which gave Abraham bread and wine, as did, GOD INCARNATED IN THE FLESH OF MAN, as Jesus, the Son of God, gave unto his disciples. God appeared unto many as a visible form.
(Gen 18:1 KJV) And the LORD appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day.
(John 8:56 KJV) Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.
(Heb 11:10 KJV) For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
The Lord God became flesh and fulfilled the heavenly priesthood of Melchisedec that was shown unto Abraham. Jesus did not come to do away with the law or righteousness but Jesus came to fulfill all righteousness.
Out of the natural creation comes the spiritual creation, which is the spiritual Son of God. Out of the natural creation comes the creation that is of faith. From the priesthood of Jesus Christ the everlasting priesthood of heavenly Jerusalem is given unto the whole body of Jesus Christ, which is taking place now. We are sitting and reigning in heavenly places.
(1 Tim 3:16 KJV) And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
God was the word and the word became flesh. God the word that became flesh and that is still becoming flesh is the High Priest of God. We are all Kings and Priest that make up the completed body of Jesus Christ. Since we are one body of the High Priest we can enter into the Holiest of All. The Ark of God was of one work as the body of Jesus Christ is of one work.
1. In the Ark of God or the Covenant was the rod that budded and that brought forth almonds, which is the first fruit of the season.
2. In the Ark of God was manna, which is a type and shadow of Jesus Christ the bread of life.
3. In the Ark of God was the written Word of God.
1. In the church or body of Christ Jesus dwell the first fruits. Jesus the Son of God was the first fruit, 144,000 are firstfruits, and the tithes of his body are firstfruits.
2. In the church or body of Christ Jesus dwells the bread of life, Jesus.
3. In the church or body of Christ Jesus dwells the complete Word of God fulfilled. Now written in the hearts of Israel, his son.
(Eph 2:14 KJV) For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us.
The partition or veil that was between the first tabernacle and the Holiest of all has been torn down by the words of the High Priest. Jesus has given the only sacrifice for the remission of sins.
Abraham paid direct tithes to the Lord God almighty the King of New Jerusalem. God almighty was a spirit that was enrobed in flesh and born of the Virgin Mary. This flesh was sacrificed and he returned unto being the High Priest of Heavenly Jerusalem, which Abraham saw. Abraham saw the priesthood of Jesus Christ before the new name of God was given.
(Rev 2:17 KJV) He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.
There is one Kingdom of God. This Kingdom of God is patterned after a wheel. This kingdom is a kingdom of serving.
(Mark 10:43 KJV) But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister: (Mark 10:44 KJV) And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all.
Peter had problems with the Lord God bowing down to him and washing his feet. Jesus was the Lord from heaven. Why would the father bow unto the son? Simply stated in order to serve. No one can be in the Kingdom of God unless they serve. Above all things our heavenly father teaches us to serve by being our example.
(John 13:5 KJV) After that he poureth water into a basin, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded. (John 13:6 KJV) Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet? (John 13:7 KJV) Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter. (John 13:8 KJV) Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me. (John 13:9 KJV) Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.
Jesus Christ that made himself last in the Kingdom of God though serving becomes first in the Kingdom of God. This pattern is a continuing pattern.
Jacob asked Joseph would the father, mother, and would everyone of his brother’s bow down unto him? Joseph was a type and shadow of Christ Jesus and every knee did bow as every knee must bow unto Christ Jesus. God became flesh and died this was the greatest example of serving the body or Son of God.
(Acts 20:28 KJV) Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.
(Isa 45:23 KJV) I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.
(Rom 14:11 KJV) For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.
As it is in the natural pattern it is also in the spiritual pattern. The sun yields unto the moon and the moon yields unto the sun, as they both sometimes yield unto the stars. God’s pattern of the wheel always holds true in nature. Our heavenly father is the greatest servant of all and it is the father’s will that we love and serve one another.
The priesthood of Melchisedec was in the kingdom of God before Jesus Christ was born of the flesh, but was always there in the heavenly realm from the beginning.
(Mat 25:34 KJV) Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
(Heb 4:3 KJV) For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
Faith still comes when we hear God speak. All need to know that we are saved by grace through faith. Faith without works is dead. These works are God's works through us.
Grace - 2603. chanan, khaw-nan'; a prim. root [comp. H2583]; prop. to bend or stoop in kindness to an inferior; to favor, bestow; causat. to implore (i.e. move to favor by petition):--beseech, X fair, (be, find, shew) favour (-able), be (deal, give, grant (gracious (-ly), intreat, (be) merciful, have (shew) mercy (on, upon), have pity upon, pray, make supplication, X very.
Men of old offered their first fruits unto God or gave tribute, or an offering. This was done out of respect and honor. The wise men brought tribute or offerings unto the young child Jesus Christ when he was two years old. We do find grace through works.
Abraham gave offerings unto Melchisedec and found grace in Melchisedec’ eyes. Abraham found grace and was blessed by Melchisedec.
(Gen 14:18 KJV) And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God. (Gen 14:19 KJV) And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth: (Gen 14:20 KJV) And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.
Our Heavenly father has given us, the Son of God, power over all of our enemies just as he did Abraham a man of faith. Now all tithes of the spoil or first fruit belong unto God. Brothers open your eyes and see the pattern of heavenly things.
Jesus Christ was the seed that all nations were blessed by. The Son of God receives the blessings of the father and the heavenly father receives the blessings of the Son of God. We find this circle of blessings in the pattern of God.
Jesus was blessed by the father’s name:
(Luke 19:38 KJV) Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.
New Jerusalem or Salem is truly a city of peace.
The Father was and is blessed by his Son:
(2 Cor 1:3 KJV) Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;
The pattern of Melchisedec continued throughout the New Testament. Jesus Christ after his resurrection appeared and walked among men forty days. At this point King Jesus was no longer a man although he appeared as one. Without blood one cannot be human but must be a spiritual being.
A man cannot walk through doors. Jesus appeared unto Paul in a spiritual form on the way to Damascus. At this point he was the heavenly father or God Almighty again just as he was when he appeared unto Moses, Abraham, and unto all of the rest. God made the complete circle.
As a spirit Jesus comes in the clouds of glory everyday. We are the clouds, body and the Son of God that sits at the right-hand of God in power. We are the man and the woman that has become one.
(Mark 14:62 KJV) And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.
The Lord God Jesus Christ can appear at anytime to anybody anywhere in the world. God is omnipotent a spirit that dwells in us his city and his habitation, which is ruling with Jesus Christ now.
